APHIDS

They form in masses of nymphs mostly on the growing buds causing damage but also on stems and foliage leaving a sticky like residue attracting ants.

CATERPILLARS

They chew the edges of leaves and holes through the flower pedals

SPIDER MITE

They breed in circle areas on the underside of the rose leaves. The leaves will appear pale and desiccated before the spider mite will enter a webbing stage over the buds and leaves. Spider mite will thrive in hot conditions.

EARWIGS & GARDEN WEEVIL

Very hard to see hiding in daylight. At night they chew leaves and new bud growth.

SCALE INSECTS

They form small infestations mostly on the old bark of the rose frame. Large unthread infestations will make your rose performance weak.

THRIPS

Swarms of small black flying insects arrive with hot northerly winds. They chew on buds and flower heads, distorting the petals as they open.

BLACK SPOT

A fungus that causes black spots and yellowing to occur mostly in humid conditions. Untreated may result in defoliation of the plant.

MILDEW

A white powdery formation on the leaves and young buds. Occurs in cool humid conditions and temperature fluctuations.
