APHIDS
“Pest Oil” or “Eco Oil” at its recommended mixing rate. Wet Aphids thoroughly.
CATERPILLARS
“Dipel” or “Success” This will kill caterpillars after ingesting. Made front a natural bacteria, they are relatively safe to use
SPIDER MITE
“Pest Oil” or “Eco Oil” Spray all the underside of the leaves affected at early stages wetting throughly. Larger infestations will require a higher strength chemical. Always do a follow up spray 10 days later to interrupt breeding cycle.
EARWIGS & GARDEN WEEVIL
“confidor” spray the rose heads and foliage thoroughly to kill.
RUST
“wettable sulphur” very hard to control. Spray thoroughly and underside of leaves.
SCALE INSECTS
“Pest Oil” or “Eco Oil” spray directly on the scale and be sure to cover all stems as the young insects will be on the move whereas the adults usually move very little and stay hidden out of obvious view.
THRIPS
“Confidor” is a systemic pesticide that can be used for a short period if required. Thrips get immune to chemicals quickly. It’s best to remove affected heads and keep area clean of falling pedals. Seal off in a plastic bag and dispose.
BLACK SPOT
“Mancozeb” is a preventative spray that can be used prior to extra humid conditions and extended rainy days.
MILDEW
“wettable sulphur” spray all foliage to control the white powdery residue.
